Baci dal Medioevo (Kisses from the Middle Ages) is a publication by Ilaria Di Emidio, published by Enter Press (Bologna, 2022). The book is a collection of six comic stories in which the author recounts the lives of women who lived in “a time so distant it seems fantastical.” These were women who could not write their own stories—not only because they were illiterate, but also because “cellulose [paper] was not a woman’s concern.” The author revives these real historical figures, opening up new narrative possibilities for them, blending timelines, and introducing impossible elements.
In the workshop of the same name, hosted by Celeste in the Patto della Lettura hall in Teramo, the author invited participants to reinterpret the stories from the book, creating their own personal narratives.
